We are a NGO devoted to species conservation on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. Our current main activity is the preservation of rare and endemic plant species.
Seed collections: We cooperate with the seed banks at the Jardin Botanico Nacional Dr. Rafael Ma. Moscoso in Santo Domingo and Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank. Seeds are stored in these seed banks for 100-200 years as a backup in case wild populations are lost.
Some wild plant populations we encounter, have already dwindled to a size were seed collection becomes unsustainable and unfeasible. We want to save these species too. Follow our blog and donate to support our seed collection and conservation action!
